FAQ - Interesting Facts
What is reloading?
Reloading describes the process of reusing cartridge ammunition. With the help of special tools (reloading press, dies, etc.) and components (projectile, powder charge, primer), cartridge brass can be refreshed and ready for the next use. It also allows for individual optimization of bullets, adapting them to your own requirements or a specific weapon.
Who is allowed to reload?
The process can only be carried out by those who have the appropriate reloading certificate or powder certificate according to §27 SprengG. To qualify for this specialized examination, all sports shooters and hunters must
- be over 21 years old
- have their residence within the scope of the law
- have conducted a personal information and consultation meeting with the responsible authority
- provide proof of their legitimate interest (e.g., hunting license / certificate from the shooting club)
How to recognize a good reloading shop?
A good online shop for reloaders is characterized by high-quality products. The selection should cover all essential items. A big plus is also when the advice is individual and provided by experts who are well-versed in their field and can recommend exactly the right products for you. At Hunting-Sport, you can expect exactly that!
What is needed for reloading?
Primarily, a reloading press is needed, with both single and multi-station presses available. For beginners, a single-station press is usually sufficient. Additionally, a powder scale and die sets for the respective calibers are required, along with other essential components such as cartridge brass, propellant powder, primers, and bullets.
Furthermore, equipment for cleaning and lubricating the brass, as well as for working on the case mouth and the primer pocket, is necessary. A highly accurate caliper and at least one loading block are also indispensable. Additionally, there are numerous useful accessories and tools that serve to simplify and speed up the various work steps.
How much does reloading cost?
The costs for a starter set begin at around 500 euros. A basic set of materials that you also need must be added as well. After the initial investment, reloading can definitely pay off, especially with high ammunition consumption or the use of special calibers.
