Hornady .224 V-MAX Bullets 55gr / 3.6g

The Hornady .224 V-MAX® bullets feature a gilding metal jacket with a swaged lead core. Inside, a hollow cavity is covered by an aerodynamic polymer tip. Upon impact, the tip is driven into the core, initiating rapid and explosive bullet fragmentation. The terminal performance in the target is exceptional. Typically, the bullet remains inside the target, which significantly reduces the risk of ricochets. With minimal pelt damage, it is ideal for predator hunting.

Thanks to their high ballistic coefficient, V-MAX bullets deliver a flat trajectory and excellent inherent accuracy, even at longer ranges.

Polymer Tip

The secret behind the V-MAX®’s explosive terminal effect is a hollow cavity between the tip's shaft and the bullet body. Upon impact, the hard tip shaft builds speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the bullet to expand rapidly and fragment violently—even at lower terminal velocities.

Higher Ballistic Coefficient

Hornady combines the sharp, pointed polymer tip with an aerodynamic bullet profile to achieve a high ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX® design also ensures a broad bearing surface for increased in-flight stability.
